Crossover Starts (Kathleen Gazich)

In this private lesson, Kathleen has the skater working on crossover starts. This drill conditions the athlete to adjust quickly to a change of direction during play. Kathleen only mentions it briefly, but she is using this drill to help the skater prepare for upcoming try-outs.

After Kathleen emphasizes that the player needs to really push off the outside edge in order to “turn the corner”, she observes him slightly rushing through the drill. By slowing down, she hopes the student can focus on coming to a complete, clean stop and “find balance.”
