Stride with Resistance Bands (Renae Sundgren)

In this video Renae starts with using video to show a skater his strides. This helps the skater see how quiet the upper part of his body is.

Moving on to using a resistance band around his ankles, Renae asks the skater to do swizzles. As a matter of safety, Renae places a hand on the skaters back and emphasizes that the swizzles should be quite tiny so the skater doesn’t fall backward.

Keeping the upper body still with hands on the side, Renae tries to keep the skater secure. To vary it up, she has the skater push out one foot at a time and try shifting for ten reps. When the player falls, she says “That was your chest!”, meaning that he needs to keep his head up.

Moving onto a duraband held in the hands above his head, he pulls the band down while skating swizzles. This strengthens his shoulder and abs while helping his posture.

In the end, Renae has the skater stride as fast as he can, and we can see he is more still and produces “more speed with less push.”
