Swizzle for Warm Up (Kelly Corcoran Smith)

This is the first video from our newest presenter, Kelly Corcoran Smith. He discusses his typical warm-up of swizzles, which warms up and strengthens the inner and outer thighs.

From a standstill, he has his athletes put their hands on their knees or hips while slowly pressing down while skating swizzles down the rink. Kelly focuses on isolating the press and roll of the outside and inside edge.

He emphasizes the knee bend while keeping alignment of the body. Keeping the knees on the hands helps remind the students to bend their knees, without leaning too much forward. The various hinges in the body need to all work together, while teaching the student how the edge goes in and out.
