Stick Centering while Skating (Amy Brolsma)

Amy Brolsma provides us with a quick, entertaining solution to a common problem. Often younger skaters flail their hockey stick around when they are beginning to learn their edges instead of keeping it lightly gliding on the ice.

Amy’s creative solution is to use a golf club cover on the end of the stick. While it’s not a perfect fit, the benefit is that it will fall off if the athlete doesn’t keep the stick on the ice the whole time.

Her student demonstrates an inside edge drill while keeping ‘Fifi’ on the ice. Overall, this helps the skaters become away of where their stick is, rather than forgetting they are holding on to it and letting it fly around.
