Where to Balance on the Blade (Renae Sundgren)

In this short video, Renae is working with a younger skater on where to balance over his feet.

Leading him through various motions, she wants him to transfer his weight by shifting his hips left and right, but keep his shoulders level.

To add another layer, she has him transfer his weight, pick up his skating side, pick up his free hip and hop on one foot.

The ultimate purpose of this activity is to help the skater feel the lean throughout the torso which will eventually get him onto the correct edge with correct weigh distribution. This, along with combination of other exercises will help the athlete feel this more naturally.
