Circle Hops with Pass and Shoot- Opposite Direction (Joe Sundgren)

This video is a continuation from Joe Sundgren’s previous video Circle Hops. In this drill, he has his elite skater skating in the opposite direction, which is more of a challenge for her. It’s very easy for the skater to let their right leg get back on the push, when it should be pushed out to the side. Same as last time, the shoulders should be turned slightly into the circle.

Circle hops with a pass then a shoot is a fun drill for skaters to practice multiple aspects of hockey at once. The skater needs to pick up speed as they exit the circle and prepare for the pass. As Joe’s student gets the hang of the circle hops in the opposite direction, he reminds her to bring the left foot as far into the circle as possible. As eager as the student is to get to the stick handling part, Joe reminds her to focus on the footwork in the circle in order to maximize speed.

This is a fun, fast-paced drill perfect for older skaters to practice skating, stick handling and shooting all in one.
