Hockey Shuffles (Amy Brolsma)

Amy introduces a warm-up drill called the ‘hockey shuffle.’ Starting with extra wide C-cuts with bent knees, the athlete does small motions with loose arms.

This simply gets the body warmed up, and builds the range of motion with the exaggerated leg position. How far can their feet go out?

The student then reverses direction and skates backward. Pressing on the big toe, and keeping the upper body steady is key. The arms need to be naturally loose and avoid punching or flailing.

This is a great, quick leg warmup and it gets the body moving.
