We join Elizabeth and her athlete as she walks us through a quad stretch. In a world where we sit at computers, in cars and on the couch, she recommends these stretches for all of her athletes.
Using a box or a wall, Elizabeth wants the shin to be as vertical as possible with a neutral pelvis. If this position is too difficult for the athlete, they can move their knee away from the box in order to keep their pelvis tucked.
To get lateral flexion, Elizabeth utilizes a mobility stick with an over head arm reach. This is a great combination for a complete side stretch with the hips and quads.
We see this stretch in real time when her athlete gives it a try, and as Elizabeth points out, he is experienced with this particular routine. If a student can’t reach the stick with the overhead hand, they can simply reach as far as they can in the meantime.
