Fun Group Games (Pro Edge)

This short video starts witha group class playing a ‘cat and mouse’ sort of game. The skaters try to avoid the players in the middle while skating north to south in the rink. If a player in the middle steals their puck, then they take a knee and try to tag the rest of the skaters.

This is a great end-of-session game that sneakily gets the kids to work on not only puck control, but skating techniques as well. Once all the students are kneeling on the ice, the instructors try to sneak through without getting their puck stolen.

The clip finishes with a fantastic skating game that has the skater balancing their stick upright while trying to turn in a quick circle before it drops. In this class they really didn’t have time to help each skater individually, but a quick ‘pirouette’ technique might be handy in a sticky situation in game play. Kudos to the kid in yellow who seems to be the only one who could do it!
