Kathleen is teaching two students; she starts off with swizzles into one foot glides. She wants to see how much power can be generated with the swizzles and how far they can glide.
Kathleen reminds them to stay on the back of the blade with hips down, staying low. She wants to see proper alignment with the knee over the toe while keeping the free foot directly behind, not wobbling.
Reversing the drill, Kathleen reminds them of arm placement and feeling the sweet spot of the glide. Minor adjustments include head up, hips down and feeling the flat of the blade.
The second half of this video focuses on getting low during c-cuts. Kathleen asks them to stretch just a little lower when they feel like they’ve extended their leg as far as it can go.
Gliding through the c-cuts shows the athlete just how much lower they can get during the move. To add a layer of balance, Kathleen has the students do strides with a glide on one foot and extending the other leg.
