Keeping Shoulders Level with Step Over (pt 1) (Joe Sundgren)

Using the stick to illustrate what the player’s shoulder’s are doing, Joe has his older athlete work on step overs from a stationary stance.

This seems like a relatively simple drill on the surface, but as we see with this advanced athlete there is always room for improvement in deepening edges, keeping shoulders level and pushing the blade in the proper direction.

After adding quickness to the drill, Joe mentions a “lean into it as you’re going.” There can be a tendency to anticipate the motions of the drill and prepping the lean, but it should be done in a slow fluid motion.
