Kathleen‘s video is a continuation of the private lesson in her previous video. Now she is asking the athlete to stop on one foot, rotate the hips around, then do one back crossover into strides.
The effectiveness of this drill is mastering the details. Kathleen reminds the student to keep the shoulders pointed straight ahead. But more importantly, regarding the foot stopping, the athlete must “stop on it, balance it, push it.”
A common error you might see is the athlete not moving the hips around enough which can cause them to want to do a forward crossover instead. Kathleen suggests putting ‘weight into the push’ and pressing down more to fix this.
