Krissy begins this video with a little interview on her thoughts about speed during practice. She tells us what she often tells her students: this isn’t a race. Practice should be about slowing down and ensuring that you have the proper technique. Once that is mastered, the speed will come. Exploding without efficiency might catch up with you in more ways than one.
This approach might take more time at the beginning, but “in the long run you’ll be far more efficient and much faster.”
Being explosive with quick twitch muscles is key. Kids needs to be comfortable in a low knee bend position, which requires strong legs and glutes. The lower you are the more powerful you’ll be. But you need to make sure the athlete’s chest stays up so they can watch the gameplay.
